Do Transition Lenses Block Blue Light?

Only partly, and not when you most need it. Photochromic (transition) lenses darken in UV light, so they block more blue outdoors. But indoors, where your screens are, there is little UV to trigger them, so they stay mostly clear and block only a small amount of blue light. Some newer transitions add a mild indoor blue-light filter, but it is modest.

If your problem is screen strain or sleep, transitions are not the tool, they are built for outdoor light changes, not indoor screen blue. A dedicated blue-light lens, clear for day and amber for evening, targets the wavelengths that actually matter indoors.
